22-25 weeks

How far along? 25 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: about 20 lbs
Maternity clothes? Still mix and match, but I did just buy a bunch of new maternity shirts. I usually wear lularoe leggings or maternity jeans (or my hubbys boxers around the house) and a maternity shirt
Stretch marks? My stomach is blowing up this time with stretch marks. Sucks. I did so good the first time around. Im not sure if living in dry Alaska contributes to that.
Sleep: Less pressure and peeing at night, but more hip pain and poor circulation.
Best moment this week: Reaching half way and viability!
Worse moment this week: Blood pressure issues. I've had a couple blood pressure readings above 140/90 and it is really starting to concern me. The other day I started seeing spots and colors in front of my eyes, and my OB sent me to labor and delivery. They said my blood work came back good, the baby looked good, and my blood pressure slowly went down while I was there. So I was sent home. I hope this isn't a reoccurring thing.
Have you told family and friends: We announced his name ^^
Miss Anything? WINE hahaha and being able to take any medicine I need when sick.
Movement: He is definitely a mover! Way more than his sister.
Food cravings: Cereal has been a favorite this time.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Literally everything is giving me miserable heartburn
Gender: Little man 💙💙
Symptoms: Swelling, hip pain, itchy stomach, out of breath all the time, baby is still breach.Labor Signs: Nothing significant. Braxton hicks are happening all the time.
Belly Button in or out? In, I don't think I'm a popper.
Wedding rings on or off? on and off. I'm uncomfortable wearing them most days
Happy or Moody most of the time: still pretty moody to be honest
Looking forward to: Finishing nursery, packing hospital bag, hospital tour...all of it. I can't wait for him to be here!
New this time: This pregnancy could not seriously be more different than my first. They really are right when they say every pregnancy is different. Im having some high blood pressure issues, which I never had with Aurora. I'm getting high 140s over high 90s. Lots and lots of swelling already. My hips pop loudly all the time, I feel like I need to see a chiropractor. I just feel completely defeated this time whereas when I was pregnant with Aurora I was still in the gym until 39 weeks. A positive difference is my skin is almost flawless this pregnancy compared to break outs all the time with my girl.

18 and 20 weeks

How far along? 20 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: about 15 lbs
Maternity clothes? Mix and match some normal some maternity
Stretch marks? Ugh sadly there are new ones forming in the middle of my stomach ):
Sleep: At night I get SO MUCH PRESSURE down low. Especially when I have to pee. I literally feel like baby boy is going to fall out. So needless to say I'm tossing and turning a lot
Best moment this week: Anatomy scan. Grandmom visiting. Auroras birthday
Worse moment this week: Running around shopping for birthday caused a lot of back pain/contractions
Have you told family and friends: Everyone knows.
Miss Anything? Being able to move freely and keep up with a toddler
Movement: Lots and lots of movement, mostly at night and in the mourning. Or if I'm sitting hunched over he kicks me haha. He hates being squished.
Food cravings: Everything gives me heartburn.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nausea has actually let up.
Gender: Bouncing baby boy.
Symptoms: So much pressure, less back pain but still there, and lots and lots of heart burn.
Labor Signs: Hopefully not for a while but I am getting braxton hicks
Belly Button in or out? In I don't think I'm a popper.
Wedding rings on or off? on and off. I'm uncomfortable wearing them most days
Happy or Moody most of the time: pretty moody this week and hormonal
Looking forward to: Getting baby boys nursery together.
New this time: It feels like a bowling ball is sitting on my cervix. I never felt this much pressure with Aurora, and she was always so much higher than he is. Baby boy is technically breech as of 20 weeks. I'm trying not to worry too much about it because he has plenty of time to flip, but Aurora was already head down at 20 weeks and never moved.

20 week ultrasound 💙💙💙

14 and 16 weeks

How far along? 17 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: about 5 lbs
Maternity clothes? Mix and match some normal some maternity
Stretch marks? No new ones
Sleep: Exhaustion is starting to let up. I had a period of time where I was having crazy dreams/nightmares that was keeping me up at night, but now I am sleeping good again
Best moment this week: Elective ultrasound to confirm that he is indeed a BOY
Worse moment this week: back pain getting worse and worse
Have you told family and friends: Everyone knows.
Miss Anything? Feeling normal. Ugh I used to say this when I was pregnant with Aurora and unfortunately that "normal" never came back. This time I just mean I miss having my own body.
Movement: I am feeling movement pretty consistently every day now. I have had two big kicks that literally knocked my breath out. I'm nervous for when he gets stronger.
Food cravings: Honestly nothing. I have been eating ice cream at night to help with heart burn, but I don't really crave it.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Still toddler diapers and the fridge is the absolute worst.
Gender: BOY BOY BOY
Symptoms: My breaking out got a lot better. I'm getting hints of heart burn and feeling lots of stretching and growing.
Labor Signs: Not any time soon
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? I purchased fake size 7 wedding rings that look just like my real ones to wear until I have this baby and can get my real wedding rings resized. I don't want to resize them just to resize them again.
Happy or Moody most of the time: I go back and forth to be honest. Like multiple times an hour lol.
Looking forward to: Grammy coming to visit for big sisters birthday and getting to be here for the anatomy scan!
New this time: Holy BACK PAIN. My back/hips feel like they are going to fall off its so painful. I'm thinking about seeing a chiropractor. It was definitely not this bad when I was pregnant with Aurora even at 39 weeks.

New Year, New Baby!

8DPO-12DPO

A new baby Clay is coming in July 2018! I am 12 weeks pregnant, officially out of the scary first trimester, and here is how I've been feeling.

How far along? 12 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: about 5 lbs
Maternity clothes? I've broken out a couple of old maternity shirts mixed with my normal shirts and I'm mostly just wearing leggings. At night I live in hubbys clothes because I don't want anything touching me.
Stretch marks? No new ones
Sleep: Tired alll the time. I hit a brick wall pretty much every day at around 6/7pm. I also have been sneaking naps in when Aurora is napping during the day. When I do fall asleep I am dead to the world and pretty cranky if something wakes me up.
Best moment this week: Finding out the gender!
Worse moment this week: This winter has been nasty with sickness going around. It feels like my whole family has been sick for like a whole month long.
Have you told family and friends: We announced on Christmas.
Miss Anything? Drinking some wine would be nice, and being able to take some cold medicine would help a lot when I'm feeling sick and stuffy.
Movement: I feel some flutters every now and then but I can't really tell if it's baby or just bloat and gas. I definitely think it is the baby sometimes, but I am waiting for a more pronounced KICK.
Food cravings: This pregnancy nothing really seems to sound good. It's more like settling for what doesn't make me want to throw up. But I tend to hate sweet things, and crave salty meat things.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Coffee (RIP), sweets, tuna, changing dirty toddler diapers, every time I open the refrigerator bleh. Pretty much everything.
Gender: We will post soon!
Symptoms: Nausea, exhaustion, breaking out, lots of bloat and gas, normal pregnancy symptoms.
Labor Signs: Not any time soon
Belly Button in or out? In
Wedding rings on or off? My rings still need to be resized from the last pregnancy. My fingers have literally grown like two ring sizes. To be fair I was a ring size 4.5 when I got married, which is really tiny.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy! Over the moon excited for another baby
Looking forward to: Wanting to do an ultrasound around 15 weeks since we don't do the 12 week scan. We always prefer the blood test, and insurance won't cover both. We haven't seen the baby since it was teeny tiny at 8 weeks. Looking forward to seeing a big squirmy baby.
New this time: So far this pregnancy has been VERY different from my pregnancy with Aurora. I did not appreciate how easy her pregnancy was back then. I never gagged and threw up with her, I basically forgot I was pregnant most of the time. I was taking a physics class for pete sake. The first trimester was a piece of cake. This time I gag at least 15 times a day and just generally feel awful. Speaking of Aurora, she has been incredibly sweet and is obsessed with babies right now. She is going to make a great big sister

18 Months Old

Sleep- Aurora started sleeping through the night consistently around 14 months old. However, teeth are constantly messing that up. Whenever a tooth starts coming through Aurora has issues sleeping, and the second it pops through she for the most part can get back to sleeping through the night. Due to our recent move across the country sleep got pretty rocky for a bit. Paired with a possible 18 month sleep regression it was pretty rough. Aurora became very clingy. She not only needed us to stay in the bedroom while she fell asleep, but sometimes required a hand to be touching her at all times as well. After finally moving into our new house, getting her crib back, and molars all being popped through I think it is safe to say she is for the most part sleeping through the night again...until more teeth come.

Eat- Eating for the most part has stayed the same. I have noticed that as she gets older Aurora is not as open to trying new foods. She will only eat what she knows she already likes, which is pretty opposite of what she was like when she was a baby. I'm hoping this is just a toddler thing and she will grow out of it. Right at 18 months Aurora is figured out how to stab food with a fork and bring it to her mouth. She is pretty proud of herself every time she does it. I want to start working on spoon feeding too.

Play- Aurora LOVES to sing songs. Her favorites are twinkle twinkle little star and old mcdonald. She still loves reading books (over and over and over) and is starting to show an interest in stuffed animals. She loves her shape sorting bucket, and can put the right shapes in the right holes most of the time with out any help. She also loves doing flash cards, and taking them from me and putting them all over the house. Her new favorite show to watch is blues clues, which I think is incredibly cute because that was my favorite show as a child.

Milestones- This girl is SMART. If you take the time to sit down and teach her anything, she will pick it up pretty quick. She can sing her ABCs, point to and say any letter in any order. She can count 1-20 (with a few exceptions), point to and say any number 1-20, she knows basic shapes, colors, and animal sounds. It blows my mind. She recently started to be able to jump off of the ground, and can climb up and down stairs with out help. She has picked up a ton of vocabulary in the last six months. She started talking more at around 15 months, and her first sentence was at 16 months. She can mimic most words you ask her to, and can say small sentences such as "thank you", "change butt", "I love you", "peek a boo", "all done", "night night" etc

Stats- 2T clothes, size 6 diapers, lbs, inches

New Adventure (again!)

Yay! Due to a job promotion for the hubby, the Clay family is headed back to Alaska!
We can NOT wait to show little Aurora all the wonders of Alaska that we loved so much, like the aurora borealis that we named her after.

By the way that is totally a real picture we took in Denali National Park last time we lived there!

Aurora's 1 year birthday

Theme: You are my cupcake (after her favorite book)

Where: The little gym 1pm-3pm

Pictures:

Happy Birthday my cuppy cake. It's been a honor to be your mommy for this last year 💜

7-12 months old

Sleep: Around 7-8 months Aurora more consistently started to nap for 2 hours, which helped me easily transition her to 2 naps a day. Around the same time she started refusing her binky and would throw it across the room when I tried to rock her to sleep. Her independent personality started to show through, and this made sleeping without the binky and learning to fall asleep on her own very easy as well. The new sleep routine would be go in, turn on her lullabies, rock her standing up for three songs, place her down, and walk out the door (instead of rocking her in the chair for three songs with a binky and putting her down already asleep). She would roll around for a little while and wedge herself into the corner of the crib and fall asleep. If she cried I would go back in and do the same thing, but she rarely cried. It actually made me sad after a while that she wanted to do it all on her own. After Aurora mastered rolling she preferred to sleep on her stomach with her little butt in the air. This also seemed to help her sleep a little better. Around 10 months she started napping for 3 hours, so I just put her to bed a little earlier and transitioned from 2 naps a day to 1 nap a day fairly easy as well. Eventually she was able to stay up a little longer and go back to her normal bed time. Sleep schedule generally looked like; 6am wake, 10am-1pm nap, 7pm bed. Still consistently wakes up once (sometimes twice) randomly in the middle of the night for a bottle.

Eat: Around 9-10 months Aurora started to be able to finger feed real food. She loved bananas and yogurt for breakfast, cheese for snack, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches or fiber one bars with strawberries or cut up grapes for lunch, and chicken with green beans for dinner. Her favorite food by far is cheese. No interest in fork or spoon feeding.

Play: Occasionally liked being in her bouncer and spinning the red bird around, but never really got into jumping. After a while I stopped putting her in it because it was more of a baby holder than a stimulating toy for her. Once she started to be able to sit she loved hitting all the buttons on her walker and watching things light up. And once she could stand she loved pushing the walker around. Still loves all her chunky puzzles (for mostly chewing) and watching mickey mouse, sesame street, and busy beavers on youtube. Loves singing songs and dancing. Got the dance mat from "B" for christmas and LOVES dancing on it. My mom gave her my grandmom's Minnie mouse and it is her favorite stuffed animal to hug. Still read books every night before bed, and still loves turning the pages. Now she can pick what book she wants and bring it to you to read.

Milestones: This kid is CRAZY! Seriously, she is so active and just wanted to go go go. She's always been like that since the day she was born. Always moving and fidgeting. Started crawling forward at 32 weeks, standing at 34 weeks, pulling up independently at 35 weeks, and walking at 37 weeks. No kidding! Once she figured out how to move there was no stopping her. By 39 weeks she was full blown walking across the whole living room with out holding on to anything. Aurora tend to figure out how to do something, and the obsess over it until she masters it entirely, then moves on to something new. Of course I'm bias, but I think she is very intelligent.

Stats: 9 months- 28 in, 20.1 lbs
12 months- 30 in, 21 lbs

Six Month Tribute

Sleep: Slept in her rock and play in the guest room (with us). Woke up every 3/4 hours to eat at night. Napped anywhere and everywhere, loved sleeping on daddy's chest. Random awake time.

Eat: Breast fed every 2 hours and stayed on upwards of 45 minutes.

Stats: 21 inches tall, 8lbs 10oz, NB clothes, NB diapers

Sleep: Started not sleeping anywhere at anytime. Got on a schedule. One hour awake time, nap 4/5 times a day in her crib. Slept in pack and play in our room set a bedtime of about 8pm, slept for about 6 hours ate then woke up every 3 hours. Sometimes only woke up once a night to eat. Strongly preferred turning her head to the right side while she slept. For the most part was able to just be put down to go to sleep, didn't really like being swaddled.

Eat: Exclusively breast fed every two hours like clock work. Could go 5/6 hour stretch at night.

Play/Milestones: Started playing in her playmat every day. Could put her down and walk away to make breakfast nearby and she would happily play. Started smiling & could roll belly to back consistently. She loved looking up at the ceiling fans and could track someone with her eyes across the room.

Stats: 22 inches, 10lbs 6oz, 3M clothes, Size 1 diapers

Sleep: Napped 3 times a day for an hour. Awake for about 1/1.5 hour and maybe 2 hours at night before bed. Bed time moved up to 7pm maybe 730. Transitioned to sleeping in her crib at night. No longer ok with just being put down, needed to be  swaddled and bounced to go to sleep. Only used a binky at night to fall asleep, but would spit it out once she was asleep. Woke up one time in the middle of the night to eat at 4 am, back to sleep until 7/8am.

Eat: Exclusively breast fed, but struggling. When she would stay awake for one hour before needing a nap we followed a wake up, eat, play, sleep schedule. She eventually started being able to stay awake 1.5 hours before needing a nap and at first she was able to go 2.5 hours with out eating and we would continue that schedule. However she quickly realized she wasn't having that and started requiring to eat before she went down for a nap. This made my supply all kinds of weird, but we were hanging in there. She ALWAYS got a pumped bottle at night before bed due to my supply being low, but I could usually make up for that by feeding her on one side at 4am, and pumping 4oz on the other side. Occasionally she would still be hungry after a feed during a day and would get a pumped bottle during that time as well. Luckily I had a pretty big stash of breast milk in the freezer.

Play/Milestones: Still only played in her playmat, not a huge fan of the bumbo. Liked to watch daddy juggle balls in the air. Loves books especially "you are my cupcake" and "Dr Seuss ABCs"

Stats: Holding head up good, supported sitter, laughing,

Sleep: Horrible. Started waking up earlier and earlier to eat (330, 3, 230) but could still make it until 7am for wake up. Hit sleep regression around 3.5 months, and the first couple days/week would wake up almost every hour. Eventually things calmed down but she needed to be fed 2 times a night instead of 1 (around 12 & 4). We would try to bounce/rock her back to sleep instead of feeding her at 12, but she would just cry until she got food. We tried everything to help her: swaddled, not swaddled, bounce, rocking chair, music, no music, sleep in crib or back to the pack and play. Eventually she started sleeping in later and later and went back to only waking up once a night at 4 to eat and go back down until 7 (no more 8am). Stopped being swaddled due to fighting it so hard she would wake up. Stilled napped about 3 times a day but could stay awake for 1.5 hours and maybe almost 3 hours at night. Now she started eating before napping instead of after she woke up because she just couldn't go that long without eating (found this out by struggling to get her to nap, she would extremely difficult to get down, and wouldn't sleep for very long. Once I started feeding her before her nap things got better.) Lots of changes this month.

Eat: Introduced formula due to her pretty much always being hungry after breast feeding with me, and started solids because she was just constantly hungry even with the extra formula. I also did this because she was not maintaining her 30% growth and that concerned me. My supply was pretty low and only got worse with the supplementing, but I still fed her off of me every two hour, and I still managed to only breast feed her during the two night feeds because I usually pumped at night, which I now couldn't do because she wouldn't spare the milk) Stage one single fruit/veg. Her first food was steamed sweet potato and breast milk mixed together in the blender.

Play/Milestones: I started letting her watch TV and she loved it only really wanted to watch sesame street, still loved her playmat, and started playing with bubbles in the evening when she would get fussy, still loved her books. Started to be able to sit unassisted for a couple of seconds. Moved up to size 3 diapers

Stats: 25 inches, 13lbs 2oz, size 3 diapers, 6m clothes

Sleep: *thankfully* sleep returned to normal a little bit before 5 months, and was rewarded with better naps. Took 2/2hour naps (one at 9/10 and one at 3/4) and went to bed at 7pm slept til 4 (sometimes 430 pushing 5) and back down until more or less 7am. A few times she even slept through the night down at 7pm, fussed at around 9pm, went back to sleep and stayed asleep until 6/630am. It was amazing.

Eat: Still breast feeding but now only half the time. I managed to keep her over night feed (occasionally pumping a 4 oz bottle) and fed her in the morning and after her first nap. After that she would get formula after her second nap and before bed. Eats solid food twice: in the morning and at night usually an hour after her milk. Started eating combination foods.

Play/Milestones: Playmat, bubbles, books, sesame street. I introduced the bouncer to help her watch tv a little better. She doesn't mind being in it, and occasionally plays with the toys...but doesn't really care for bouncing I only keep her in it for one or two shows. Started to be able to pick up bigger toys on her own. Rolled over back to belly for the first time, and found her feet in a big way. She now is always touching her feet.

Sleep: Unfortunately we hit another regression toward the middle/end of 5 months into now. She started waking up earlier and earlier like before and then was awake every 2 hours for a little while until that evened out to waking up twice a night to eat. Two big differences from the 4M sleep regression is she would wake up earlier than what is normal (around 11pm, then 3, then want to wake up at 530/6) and she occasionally will wake up and STAY AWAKE for 1 to 2 hours instead of eating and going right back down. Another big sleep killer is she has started to roll back to belly more constantly and will literally roll over in her sleep and wake herself up because she is stuck and MAD about it. She became more difficult to put down until we realized that she wanted to be put down and sleep on her side instead of her back. We also introduced more consistently playing soft calming music while she is going to sleep and it has seemed to help. Naps have gone back to about an hour long 3 times a day, but she will rarely sneak in a 2 hour nap every once and a while.

Eat: This time I could not keep up with only breast feeding her at night when she wake waking up 2/3 times to eat. So we started giving her formula bottles at night and I did my best to pump which eventually lead to me loosing my overnight supply. For a while I was still able to breast feed her in the morning and that eventually dwindled down to every other morning and then nothing. I used up the rest of my freezer stash and now at 6.5 months she is no longer breast fed. Looking back I realize there are things I could have done differently, or shouldn't have been so worried about, but in the end I am proud to have made it to a little over 6 months of breast feeding. Also Aurora does not mind or notice one bit since it was a gradual change and she is a hungry hippo that will eat anything. Solid foods are given 3 times a day now. Sometimes eating 6oz bottles sometimes only 3/4 oz. LOVES solids, prefers it to the bottle. Can eat some finger food such as yogurt melts, mum mums, and an occasional green bean or pea. Not a huge fan of puffs. Loves chewing on the spoon, and shows interest in feeding herself. Eating meats.

Play/Milestones: Play mat is starting not to be as fun anymore now that she is a little more mobile. She doesn't want to just sit in it. Showing more interest in stuffed animals and loves picking up and chewing everything. Rolling and can now crawl/scoot backwards. While sitting she can pick up smaller toys on her own (and shove them right into her mouth). Loves mommy singing nursery rhymes. Plays with chunky blocks from puzzles. Getting more curious.

Stats: 26 inches, 16lbs 8.5oz, size 4 diapers, 9M clothes (BIG girl) shot up from 18% to 50%

Mommy and Daddy have loved watching you grow baby girl! We can't wait to see what the next six months will bring.
